On our way to an early morning harvest!
Welcome to our showcase of very special vineyards. When we look for quality,
we look to the grower and to the integrity of the vineyard site to produce low
yielding, high quality fruit. We take extreme care to marry the proper vineyard
stie and appellation with the appropriate varietal. As a result, trademark wines
are typically "made in the vineyard" and are picked at optimum ripeness to ensure
a silky full-mouth feel and dark crimson pruple hue. Please sit back and enjoy
the tour.
Garvey Family Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Located on the Rutherford Bench in the heart of Napa Valley, this spectacular
tree-line sloping vineyard is planted on rocky soils with open canopies and full
sun exposure. Hugging the tree lined hillside, the sun drops over the mountain's
edge cooling the vines and allowing the grapes to enjoy a respite from the typically
warm afternoons. This fluctuation in temperature extends throughout the growing
season and ultimately promotes greater "hang-time" in the vineyard. The rocky
soils and infamous "Rutherford dust" challenge the vines and in their struggle
to survive, the vines produce a smaller cluster and berry size with intense varietal
character. The resulting wines are quite distinctive and showcase a scented bouquet
of dried flowers, violets and black cherries. |
This award winning Merlot vineyard is located in the St. Helena appellation and
is planted to specific root stocks and complementary clones. The soil composition
is deep and rich, encouraging ripeness from bud break to harvest. The canopies
are thinned to allow full sun exposure and the crop load is held to a minimum
as each vine is groomed to maximize fruit quality. |
Monte Rosso Vineyard, Sonoma County Italian for "Red Mountain," Monte Rosso's dramatic hillside setting provides
the perfect conditions for producing hearty Zinfandel wines. Maximum sun exposure
and fast draining soils result in small Zinfandel berries just waiting to unleash
their pepper and spice characteristics followed by wonderful rasberry and blackberry
fruit. The oldest vines on this ranch were planted in the late 1800's. |
Napa Valley has been graced with a warm climate, cool nights and an early morning
fog. Zinfandel loves it here and these spectacular vineyards located on the valley
floor, north of St. Helena, produce a rich full bodied red wine filled nuances
of pepper, spice, rasberry and blackberry flavors. The vineyards are suckerd,
pruned and excess fruit is dropped early to ensure full ripening and maximum flavor
intesity. Typically, our Napa Valley Zinfandel comes from a combination of three
vineyards that each contribute to the complexity and richness of this Napa Valley
wine. |
